For more than 40 years, the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Inc. (BCNC) has been a vital link energizing the Asian immigrant and Asian American community of Greater Boston. BCNC provides essential services that ease integration into American society, while preserving the rich Asian culture. Every year, BCNC services over 2000 children, youth and adults through our family-entered programs.
The mission of BCNC is to ensure that the children, youth, and families we serve have the resources and supports to achieve greater economic success and social well being.
Program Description: Recreation and Fitness
The Recreation and Fitness program consists of three program components: a gym program, a pool program, and the Oak Street Youth Center. The gym and pool programs provide both structured activities such as leagues, clinics, and lessons as well as unstructured activities such as open gym and swim times. The gym and pool programs serve an age range from 4 years old to older adults. The Oak Street Youth Center provides recreational, educational, and leadership development activities for youth ages 11 to 19 years old in a safe and supervised environment. The overall hours of operation for the Recreation and Youth program during the school year are Monday-Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Our weekday hours in the summer are extended, with our program starting at 10:00 AM, Monday-Friday.
Program Description: Adult Education
BCNC is a multi-service non-profit agency serving Asian Americans and the greater Boston community. With over 2,000 people served yearly and an annual budget of over $4 million, BCNC is the vital link for immigrants and the community, providing programs such as: early education and care, youth development, family services, recreation & fitness, arts & enrichment, and adult education.
Program Description: Red Oak After-School Program
Red Oak provides year-round recreational, educational, and leadership development activities for youth ages 5 to 13 years old in a safe and supervised environment. By partnering with the teachers of the school at which most students attend, in addition to various organizations, Red Oak develops its students both academically and emotionally.
