Recreation and Fitness offers the community access to recreation facilities and well-designed programs for all ages. The Chinatown community lacks access to green space and other fitness resources; BCNC aims to keep our families healthy and happy for generations to come.
Sports have played an important role in the development of Chinatown social circles, business deals, and other relationships, not just in Boston but across the country. Whether through martial arts, 9 man volleyball, or a leisurely session in the pool, BCNC helps us all stay in shape.
Recreation and Fitness offers seasonal clinics in volleyball and basketball, as well as periodic tournaments and leagues. We work with community partners to offer a wide array of interesting fitness courses, including karate, aikido, yoga, break dance, bhangra dance, and badminton.
We offer swim lessons for beginners multiple times a year. For advanced swimmers, BCNC’s swim team – the Rubber Duckies – practice twice a week from November to March and participate in a non-competitive swim league with other Boston centers. We also participate in the New England United States Swimming Association.
BCNC holds open sessions in basketball, badminton, and swimming at least once a week. These are open to the public for a drop-in fee or to members for free. Seniors are always free.
Our gym houses a full basketball or volleyball court; our dance studio is equipped with mirrors and a PA system. Both facilities are available for rental.
