AEP Assistant Program Director

The Adult Education program serves approximately 400 adults a year through an array of comprehensive adult education services including free or low-cost English for Speakers of Other Languages classes, individual and group tutoring, civics and citizenship education, computer literacy, educational counseling, and advocacy. 

The Assistant Program Director reports to the Program Director and supports the overall operation the program including curriculum development, supervision and staffing, grant writing and reporting, and program planning and development.  She/he is also responsible for coordination of all administrative tasks including office, classroom and staffing logistics. 

Responsibilities

Program Management and Planning

Under the direction of the program director, manage and direct administrative aspects of the program including staff and space scheduling, coordinating and supporting curriculum development, and coordinating program recruitment, outreach, enrollment and graduation.  Ensure data entry and collection processes are clear and maintained.  Assist with grantwriting and reporting.

Staff Supervision

Support the program director with staff supervision.  Attend and manage whole staff meetings as appropriate.  Provide staff support.

Other Tasks                                                                                                                                     

Participate in community planning and intra-agency initiatives.  Represent BCNC and the program in external meetings and events. 

Requirements:

-          Bachelor’s Degree plus three years’ experience in adult education field; Master’s Degree in ESOL or related field preferred.

-          Experience teaching or coordinating in ESOL or Adult Basic Education programs.

-          Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

-          Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; self-disciplined with an ability to meet timelines.
