Our Programs

In 1969, Boston was in the midst of an academic construction boom.  Longtime residents and newcomers in the Chinatown and South End areas decided to establish the Quincy School Community Council (QSCC), whose goal was to ensure that the community had input in the design and development of a new neighborhood school.  In 1976, upon completion of the Quincy Community School, the city designated the QSCC to run the community center at this location.  In 1997, the agency changed its name to the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center to more accurately reflect its mission as a community center.

When the Center first opened, our only programs included child care and adult English as a Second Language (ESL).  Throughout our 36-year-history, we integrated additional programs in order to meet community needs.  In 2005, the agency relocated to a newly constructed and fully modern facility to house our programs.

Our new and improved facility allows us to serve the community better.  Those we serve praise how our programs relate to their needs and concerns.  The Center is open six days a week year-round.
