BCNC recently celebrated the graduation of the most recent cohort of its ESOL for Customer Service Training Program, marking a significant milestone as the largest class in the program's history. What sets this graduation apart is not just the size of the class, but also the shifting demographic of the students, with a notable increase in younger participants and those with higher education backgrounds.

In a remarkable testament to the program's impact and the determination of its participants, BCNC received over 500 applications for the ESOL for Customer Service Training Program, underscoring the high demand for such opportunities. Among the applicants are many Haiti refugees, who have endured extreme violence yet remain steadfastly motivated to enhance their skills for the workforce. As we celebrate the achievements of the class, we also extend our heartfelt condolences to those affected by the ongoing violence in Haiti. It is our hope that through programs like the ESOL for Customer Service Training, we can provide a beacon of hope and support for individuals striving to build a better future for themselves and their families.

One remarkable story from this cohort is that of Jamie, a student from Haiti. Jamie holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and had previously worked as a math teacher. His dream was to pursue a Ph.D., but his plans were abruptly halted when his school in Haiti was shut down due to extreme violence. Undeterred, Jamie continued his education through self-study, relying on textbooks to further his knowledge. Upon completing the ESOL class at BCNC, Jamie's dedication and hard work paid off when he was hired as a technician at a hotel in Boston.

The success of Jamie and his fellow graduates highlights the transformative impact of programs like BCNC's ESOL for Customer Service Training. Beyond imparting language skills, these programs empower individuals to pursue new career paths and opportunities, ultimately enriching both their lives and the communities they serve.

As BCNC continues to support and uplift individuals through its programs, the graduation serves as a reminder of the potential for positive change when communities come together to provide resources and guidance to those in need.
